I just wanted to say thank you very much to Hampton for standing by his
warranty, even though the Air Force relocated me to Canada. I picked County
Transmission to overhaul the transmission in my Honda Odyssey based upon the
reviews and County Transmission’s reputation. It is really nice when a shop
lives up to its reputation!
Rick Rood and his staff were awesome and the Honda’s transmission is working great!
Thank you so much!

Dear County Transmissions Team,

Thank you for your prompt attention and honest assessment of my vehicle. I researched the shuddering issue on my 2004 Mercury Marauder and realized a number of issues could have caused it. I decided to start with a transmission check, and brought my car to your shop–based on your Yelp reputation and information on your website.

I really appreciate:

1) Pinpointing the likely culprit [engine misfire]. This diagnosis has saved me time and money.

2) Referring me to Frames Automotive and assisting me in delivering the vehicle to that shop.

3) Most of all, not charging me. What a class-act gesture.

A very happy holiday season to your team, and continued success in 2016.

They were FANTASTIC!!! I have never been so happy to spend $3600 that I never intended or wanted to spend!

Was referred to County Transmissions by a very reputable garage. Without an appointment or calling ahead I showed up and spoke to the owner, Hampton. I explained a mysterious and intermittent issue I was having with my drivetrain. Hampton took my information and said they would look at it and get back to me in a few hours which was a pleasant surprise since I didn’t think they would be able to get to it until the next day. Since I wasn’t having any problems when I drove in they were unable to observe the problem first hand. Nonetheless, based on my description they recommended a couple of procedures that might help. They got to it and finished in a couple of hours. When I asked how much I owed they said since they couldn’t confirm they
fixed the problem – I owed nothing. Couldn’t believe it! That kind of conscientious service is very hard to find these days. It’s only been a few days so not sure if the problem is resolved. Whether it is or isn’t I will be using County Transmissions from now on for all my vehicles. Highly
recommend them!

I wish all auto repair facilities treated their customers this way! County Transmission was outstanding and truly stands behind their service. We recently had a complete automatic transmission rebuild performed on a 98 Honda Accord for a lady in our church. The rebuilt transmission developed some issues shortly after we picked it up, but Hampton and the crew at County Transmission jumped into action and took care of the problems very quickly. As a serious car person who’s worked on cars for the past 45 years it’s great to see the pride, workmanship and service exhibited by County Transmission. It’s very rare to see this level of service today. A good rule of thumb when picking auto repair facilities is to look outside the garage at the number and type of vehicles waiting for service. When I pulled up I saw a restored 51 Jaguar, a 67 or 68 restored Mustang notchback, and a Porsche waiting for transmission repairs. People who put serious money into their cars know where they can get the job done right at a great price…and that’s County Transmission!

1. My transmission literally “exploded” one day. One of the planetary gears let loose inside the transmission and exploded and took a huge chunk out of the transmission case, hence, I had no alternative but to have a complete rebuild done. Did not want to waste time installing a “salvage yard” used transmission. Based upon the excellent reviews on Angie’s List, I called Michael at County Transmissions and explained my dilemma to him. He was very professional, courteous and most helpful. He put me on hold for just a few minutes and got right back to me with the cost and explained what he would need to do; which also included finding a new transmission case for the rebuild. I told him where the car was located and he made all the arrangements and within three hours he called me back and told me that the tow truck had just dropped off my car to his shop.

2. Five days later, they called me to come pick up my repaired car, which we did. Drove down the road about fifteen miles and the transmission slipped out of gear and would not engage. I immediately called Michael and explained the issue to him. Both he and Hampton were so apologetic that this happened and that they would fix the issue. They had me call a towing company and we had the car towed, at County Transmissions expense, back to their shop. Additionally, they made arrangements for us to pick up a rental car (also at their expense) for as long as it was needed.

3. After further inspection, metal shavings (apparently from the previous damage circulating through the transmission cooler) were found in the valve body causing shifting problems. They flushed out the radiator (because my car has the transmission cooler integrated inside the radiator…) several times and put the transmission back together. Hampton called me and said that after all that work, he still was not happy with the results and wanted to do some more work on it to ensure that it was working to his satisfaction before he gave the car back to us.

4. A couple of days later, Michael called me and said that the car was fixed and that we could pick it up. Hampton said that he wanted to be absolutely sure that the transmission worked great and decided that he wouldn’t mess with it any longer and rather than risk more metal shavings floating around, his decision was to just go ahead and install a brand new radiator. We picked up the car and it is driving great.

5. County Transmissions is a “A” Number One Operation. Hampton, Michael and his techs are great people. They are professional, courteous, and super nice and friendly. I would, without hesitation, do business with them again and recommend them to anyone else. I have the utmost faith and confidence in them that if I have problems with this transmission in the future, all I have to do is to pick up the phone and they will make it right!

Six months ago I was referred to C.T. and had them service my ’96 Buick with 130K miles. Upon discovering a slight leak of trans fluid I had them take a look. Some pan bolts had loosened. They fixed the problem immediately, AT NO CHARGE! What a relief it is to deal with a shop that stands behind it’s work 100%. It was like no problem, no questions asked, they just fixed it. Honest as the day is long. Very reasonable prices and THEY WILL NOT SCREW YOU! Highly recommended!!

County Transmissions was nothing but professional and accommodating. I was so impressed from my first phone call to my last visit. Although there was a leak discovered after the work was done, they were gracious in replacing the seal and offering a loaner car. It was difficult for me to arrange the trip so far away from home so that helped me out tremendously. I would high recommend using County Transmissions to my friends, family and I will certainly use them again if the need arises.

The transmission on my 2004 Volvo began to slip. Being in the area on business, I had no idea where to go, so I took the car to two shops in Gaithersburg, MD, and then I found favorable reviews for Country Transmissions online. Their diagnosis of the problem/solution was the same as the other shops, but their manner and demeanor was much better than the other two shops. Fortunately I have a third-party extended warranty plan, and County Transmissions was on their list. County Transmissions had dealt with the warranty company on numerous occasions, so this made me feel better. Less for me to deal with.
After discussing my options with the warranty company, I opted to have the warranty company provide the transmission to County Transmissions. They kept me updated with the progress of the repair and any issues (and there were a couple). Each call was very professional and to the point without making me feel like an idiot. The shop itself was also very CLEAN….even the bathroom.

Fantastic people to deal with. I had them do the above work to my GT500 and it turned out very well. The car drives better now than it did when it was new. I went to a much shorter gear in the rear and they kept it quiet, which when you go to shorter gears it can be difficult to keep the rear from whining. It’s nice to find a place where you still can get good work done for a fair price.

Without doubt the best transmission experience I have ever had. The shop was very responsive and went out of their way to fix and repair items instead of just replacing them. They did a lot of work on my truck and kept me informed throughout the entire process. They had the feel of a small local transmission shop coupled with the capabilities and knowledge of a large company. I highly recommend this shop!

County Trans is the best in the area, period. Hampton may well be the most knowledgeable transmission pro in the DC Metro area. Highly recommended!

My transmission went out on the way to work one Friday. I called County Transmission’s to see if there was anything on the spot they recommended I do to get my vehicle to a safe location. I spoke to Mike and Jean on the phone and they were very helpful trouble shooting what my problem was. After talking to a few places Country Transmissions was the most knowledgeable by far and helpful. I brought my truck in for a transmission rebuild and they had my truck back to me in two days for the most reasonable price I could find. I had several questions they walked me through about transmissions in general and got me back on the road fast. I recommend you call them if you have any general questions or need any work done. They were great, fast, and reasonably priced.
