I own a Jeep Grand Cherokee and recently had warning lights come on indicating the 4Wheel Drive System needed service.  The check engine warning light came on as well.  My primary mechanic referred me to County Transmission, because the 4Wheel Drive warning light indicator was a repair they did not handle.

I called County Transmission and spoke with Mike, who I believe is the owner’s son and dropped the car off that night.  Mike called me back early the next day to confirm that is was just the warning lights I was having issues with, then called me back early in the afternoon and told me the 4Wheel Drive System was in good order. A big relief!  He said my Jeep just needed some fluids topped off to clear the check engine light.  We made arrangements to have the Jeep left for pick-up with the key and invoice locked inside.  Mike told me no charge, just come back when/if I really needed some transmission work done.  Does anyone in business do that anymore???

Obviously, time was spent checking the warning lights, clearing the warning lights, and someone also spent time toping off fluids.  Time and material was spent working on my Jeep, at no charge.  Integrity is a trait long lost in business, at least in my view.  This gentleman and this company still have it!  Heaven help me if I actually need transmission work one day, but if I do, the Jeep is going to County Transmission.  Thanks again Mike, you are true gentleman!

I didn’t have the chance to tell you but I don’t want this to be unsaid.  You folks are some of the most honest people that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.  I absolutely trust your judgment, decisions, and recommendations.  When in California, there was one other service group that mirrored the level of ethics and customer care that I have experienced with you on more than one occasion.  Just the other day, I was having some work performed on my car and the owner was speaking to someone about some transmission work.  I politely interjected that I would ONLY recommend County Transmissions in Vienna and that I was positive their experience would be phenomenal.  Interestingly enough, the service owner backed me up and also mentioned that he only sent his customers to County since transmissions were not his expertise.  I just thought you should know that you are respected by a large community including other automotive professionals.  Thanks for maintaining real professionalism.

County Transmissions is the BEST in town. Hampton and the shop was recommended by my long time mechanic and friend . Hampton’s team went out of their way to come and pick up my 1994 Blazer, free of charge, repaired my transfer case/transmission in two days. The price was fair, great work done and returned my Blazer to my mechanic. GREAT JOB ladies and gentlemen! BEST in Town!

Great, no problems. I was kept advised of the progress. They were very neat as the interior was spotless when we picked up the vehicle. Would go here for any transmission problem. They installed a new console unit which was damaged by another shop. The installation was also .perfect. A great group to work with.

In 2012, after much research online, a dealer recommended putting in a new transmission and a local repair shop suggested either rebuilding or getting a new one, we took our 2001 Odyssey to County Transmissions. At the time, the van had less than 55k miles on it. Hampton, the owner, was very helpful in answering all the questions and provided all the options with cost estimates. We opted to have the transmission rebuilt. Two months ago, the transmission started to have problems, as diagnosed by a local repair shop; the van had less than 66k miles on it. Contacted Hampton first then brought the van to his shop, and was then notified that the transmission needed to be rebuilt at no cost. This was because Hampton honored his words for the warranty of 36 months/36k miles. Back in 2012 Hampton did say that he would honor the warranty for 36k miles since the van was driven less than 5k miles a year. Turned out the real culprit was the torque converter from one of the shop suppliers that was not up to par. Meanwhile, a technician from County Transmissions found the exhaust pipe was broken and left axle boot was spitting out grease; both needed to be replaced. Other than the costs plus tax for the parts, there’s no labor charge to replace the exhaust system and the axle because Hampton said they had to be removed during the process of removing the transmission anyway. In short, County Transmissions saves us thousands of dollars. In addition, where else can one find any place or anybody who would truly guarantee their work and, more importantly, their words these days (or for the past 10-20 years)? Many people are often quick to offer praise shortly after any repairs or performance of any businesses, online or physical ones. Hampton, his crew, and his shop have demonstrated that they were and still are outstanding in all counts: work, service, price, and quality; not to mention the fact, and most importantly, that “honor” is priceless! For the record, this is the first ever review or survey I have ever written about anybody, any business, or any product. Undoubtedly, it’s worth the trip taking our van from Arlington to Vienna, VA.

How you can tell what a good mechanic or car shop is by how busy they are, and this place is jammed pack. I had to make an appointment and even reservation basically to get a spot in advanced. It’s tucked away in the back next to bunch of mechanic shops but this one has a sign right smack in the middle of the front. Can’t miss it unless you can’t read.

They are very friendly and know what they are doing I saw the back and saw them taking every single phone call and boy, there were so many phones ringing.
My Hyundai’s transition kept on acting whack where when you press the pedal, it wouldn’t shift gears or go any faster. I need a new car omg

I was so happy to find this shop! They are so good. I was told by several people that I needed a new transmission. I had researched the problem and found that I did not need a new transmission. I even bought the gadget that reads the codes so I knew what I was looking for. County confirmed that I was correct and they fixed this car very fast. I have not had a chance to drive much so will see but it seems to drive as it should which is a miracle. And they did NOT take me to the cleaners! Thank you so much!!!

Took my Chrysler T&C here for a transmission check engine light problem. Before they started any work they told me the power-train was still under manufacturer warranty and told me I should take it to the dealer to get it done for free. I ended up needing a whole new transmission which the dealer did for free under warranty.

County transmission saved me almost $3K and I will definitely be back if I have any transmission problems once my warranty is up. They are extremely professional and honest, and didn’t even charge me for the initial diagnostic.

I brought my car for what I determined was an intermittent transmission or drivetrain problem. I left it for a day and the mechanic personally called and said he checked it out and couldn’t get the problem to occur. I reasonably expected a bill for his time. He said that if the problem happened again to bring it back, but they didn’t think it was the transmission or drivetrain. These guys were so honest I almost felt bad that they spent time diagnosing a problem that wouldn’t replicate. Unbelievably reasonable. Highly recommend.

I took my truck in on 8/8/16, and it was completed on 8/12/16 . I prayed and ask the Lord where should I take my truck . He lead me to County Transmission. If I could give a higher rating, there isn’t one in our numerical system, Mr. Hampton and Mr. Michael are beyond the word professional. they treated me as a Queen every step of the way and My beloved Christopher ( My 2004 GMC Denali, very special has a mural of my son who was killed on it). I’m very particular about who works on my truck. I went in for a new transmission, not only did they bless me with new transmission (that makes my vehicle run smoother then when I brought it), but they also informed me that my brake line had broken (unbeknownst to me) and thank God I could have been hurt. They also repaired other minor issues I had, and for the price and warranty I am overly bless and appreciative. They would not let me come and get my truck until THEY were completely satisfied. My truck is so quiet its scary, but I love it. I cant say enough of how kind, personal HONEST, and professional they all are. Please, please trust me when I tell you there is none like County Transmission. You can truly trust them. They are my new mechanics and referral for other things I may need in the future in repairs of my vehicle, but notice I said may need, the way my truck runs I wont need any repairs just maintenance. Thank you so so very much I pray the Lord blesses each employee and your company beyond what you expect.

I am totally pleased and impressed with the technical competence and customer service displayed by all employees at County Transmission. I will start my praise on the technical side, because although my truck is close to 14 years old, it still has a lot of life. The service personnel at County Trans spent 3 days driving and duplicating the symptom the truck was exiting. Once they came up with the issue, they promptly completed the repair in 4 days. The truck’s shifting and ride is smoother now than when it was new. Secondly, the customer service displayed by County Transmission is superb. I would compare them to Wegman’s. They kept me appraised every step of the way, always were courteous, and answered all my questions Most importantly, they answered them in terms I could understand. The most impressive part of this is it was not just one person who was in charge of customer service but everyone I met in the shop — office/business manager, Michael who manned the phones, the transmission specialists, and technicians that prepared the vehicle for pickup. This was the most positive automobile repair experience I have ever had. I highly recommend County Transmission based on fair pricing of services, technical expertise, schedule adherence, and most of all customer service.

I own a shop not so close to County Transmission but I know they will take care of my customers. The distance is worth the drive because they are the best at what they do!

Mr. Childs was very honest and did not try to sell me on a rebuilt transmission – even though my 1995 vehicle had over 110K miles. He was very punctual in keeping my 1PM appointment. He answered all my questions in detail during the test.
After performing all the testing, Mr. Childs concluded that my car’s transmission was fine and the only problem found was a broken rear engine mount causing some slight thumping when shifting between Reverse and Drive (approx $250 fix at my local mechanic), I was very happy with Mr. Child’s expert review. Not only did Mr. Childs save me from a $3,000 transmission rebuild – I feel comfortable in keeping my car for a few more years based on his advice.
Based on my very positive experience – I will definitely bring my cars to County Transmission for any transmission work in the future. I highly recommend County Transmission to anyone looking for honest land professional service on their transmission needs.

I had an odd vibration that I suspected was related to the drive train. In short, they were very attentive, very concerned with fully addressing my issues, and left me feeling very confident that they had my best interest at heart and that they really knew their craft.

I have been a customer of County Transmissions for over five years. I own a business that has a fleet of 19 trucks. During that time, County Transmissions has replaced at least three transmissions for me and fixed several other transmission related problems such as fluid leaks and universal joint problems. They just replaced the transmission in my daily drive that has over 225,000 miles. I can attest that this is the best transmission shop I have ever used and one of the best automotive shops in the DC area. Hampton, Michael and Jean run an outstanding business. Michael is always extremely nice and happy to take your call, and Hampton is an honest straight shooter that will take the time to explain everything and go over all your options. When you drop off or pick up a vehicle, Jean is always smiling and happy to see you.

As a long term customer, who has had a good deal of work done by County over the years, I can say with certainty I have never had a problem with any of the work that they have performed for me. This is a first class operation with a clean shop and waiting room, and very considerate mechanics.

I first learned about County Transmissions from an auto repair place that told me most of the local repair shops send all their transmission work out to Hampton, so as an owner of a medium size fleet, I decided to go straight to the source for my transmission work, and you should to. This is a great shop, and I can’t say enough good things about them.

We thought we may have had a problem with our transmission but it turned out to be something totally unrelated. They kept our truck for 2 days and did several road tests and inspections. It seems like they spent a fair amount of time on the diagnosis but in the end did not charge us at all. The owner was personally involved in the process.
David B., Arlington, VA
Everything was excellent, from the first telephone conversation, to being picked up at the Metro, to the actual work, to the finish. The transmission is working great 8 months later.
Mark P., Washington, DC
Rebuilt my transmission on 2010 F150 on site, and better. Owners and everyone were super knowledgeable and professional. Weren’t the least expensive, but I believe you get what you pay for and I wanted to avoid a factory rebuilt by the Automotive Franchises. Would highly recommend them for your automotive and transmission needs.

County Transmission replaced the transmission and timing belt on our 2004 car. They explained the repair and offered options. Everyone we spoke with was respectful and kind. We were truly pleased with their service.

They were FANTASTIC!!! I have never been so happy to spend $3600 that I never intended or wanted to spend!

Mr. Hampton Childs of County Transmission performed a very thorough computer, operational, and road test of my car’s transmission. I highly recommend County Transmissions. I had major issues with the transmission in my 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car. I submitted an appointment request via Angie’s List and received a phone call the next day. I was able to take it in to be diagnosed and needed to have the transmission rebuilt. They had the car back to me within 5 days, and she is running like new. I have driven it for a few months and took it on a long road trip. I am glad I found this place!
